Food and nutritional supplements as sleep aids

If you suffer from insomnia, you can take foods that contain tryptophan, a substance that

undergoes changes in our brain and helps the body relator. For foods containing

tryptophan to be effective, they must be consumed on an empty stomach. The most well-known

food that causes insomnia is turkey, which is rich in tryptophan. Other foods rich in tryptophan

are turkey, chicken, milk, cheese, and nuts.

A diet rich in carbohydrates is considered beneficial for insomnia. Carbohydrates are said to

increase the production of serotonin and melatonin. For those who suffer from insomnia, it is

recommended to take a carbohydrate meal of wheat or cracked crackers with milk before going

to bed.

Tryptophan and Melatonin Supplements

Sleep aids are also available as dietary supplements.

Supplements made from maidonin also aid in good sleep. Melatonin is a hormone that affects

your biological clock and sleep cycle, which can cause insomnia to fall asleep. But, this may not

help you sleep for a long time. It is also not recommended to take it for a long time.

Herbal supplements can interact with some medications. Always tell your doctor if you are

taking

herbal supplements.

Valeria

Several studies have shown that valerian root has a positive effect on people with sleep problems.

Valerian has been suggested to be effective in promoting sleep and wakefulness. The plant has

also been proven to have a relaxing effect on the body. One study found that people who given

valerian for eight weeks was able to fall asleep faster, easier, and more.

One of the most used herbs to treat insomnia is chamomile, which is considered safe by the FDA

and has no known side effects. Other herbs known to aid in effective sleep include passion

flower flowers,

hops, ginseng, lemon balm, and skullcap.

Training

Sleep aids can also take the form of exercises to aid in deep sleep, whether in young or older

adults. Research shows that light to moderate exercise can improve sleep quality for people who

suffer from sleep problems.

Although all of these treatments are generally considered safe sleep aids, it is recommended that

you consult your doctor first. You should also inform him about the alternative methods

available.
