Anxiety and worry make it very difficult to focus on things when worry or fear arises. This
worry can bother you and make you anxious. You may not be able to calm down or relax. But,
there are ways to ease your anxiety.
You have to practice to learn how to do it.
If you need help managing your worries:
1. Control your breathing. It is beneficial if you can change your breathing habits. This will
help resolve your concerns. Many people with anxiety have breathing habits that bother them
a lot. Breathing should be slowed down. Inhale for about 7 seconds, hold your breath for
about 3 seconds, and then exhale for about 7 more seconds.
Try repeating this process several times. This is a breathing technique that helps you not get
irritated by taking too many breaths.
2. Affirmations Affirmations can be useful for some people. Those who use affirmations find
them very helpful. Affirmations are things you can say to yourself to be more positive and feel
better about yourself.
Example:
I am a positive person I am optimistic in myself I can find positivity in any situation I am
always positive.
3. Cardio Try exercising. When you worry, your body releases adrenaline. Having that energy
and being able to focus on cardio helps a lot. That's because exercise has many benefits that
help with anxiety. Exercise makes breathing healthy and distracts.
When you exercise, your body produces chemicals called endorphins that improve your
mood. Daily enjoyable exercise and physical activities include:
hockey, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and rowing.
4. Calm yourself down with fun activities.
